A Return to Godliness - Part 1
It seems over the past decade we have seen values and morals plummet in the United States. There is no more black and white concerning right and wrong, but only grey which is defined as being tolerant. At one time our measuring stick in America was the Bible. Now it is simply what feels good. As Christians we should learn from the mistakes of those in the Bible and not fall into the trap of apathy and ill effectiveness. It is time that we as Christians stand up and join the army of the Lord whose purpose is to reclaim our Godly heritage as Americans.

In the next four issues we will discover our growing need for a mighty army. Men and women will be asked to fight, not for a superficial cause, but to take part in a supernatural war. Not only have we been given authority and power to fight, but we have been given permission to be victorious. (1 John 5:4) We will mold, equip, and organize an army that will have the opportunity to return America to godliness. So I ask you to join me not with mere interest, but with commitment to pray and a willingness to report for duty.
To lead us to a supernatural victory I will be using the principles implemented by Gideon and his army. I challenge those who are reading this article to read Judges 6 & 7. As you read this observe the process that God used to build and cut away this valiant army. My prayer is that we implement these principles in our own lives so that we can reclaim our Godly heritage.
The first observation I made concerning Gideon was the interesting questions he posed to God. Gideon was hiding his harvest due to the fact that the Midianites were plundering the land. As he was working the Angel of the LORD came and spoke to Gideon, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Now this man Gideon would fit the typical image of the underdog; the least of the tribe and of his family. Gideon responded, like many of us would, by stating, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about?” (Judges 6:13a) The Lord responded to Gideon by saying, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” (Judges 6:14)
Even in the midst of captivity God spoke to Gideon and told him that he was a equiped to be sent. In the same manner we as the church are to be equiped to take back what has been stolen. In the following months we will assemble an army, learn what weapons we have, and then be trained how to use them. We will be united and be used by God to return the USA to Godliness.
